Rocks drag themselves across the playa
unaware of their own weight
their constant volume, density, inertia
their absence of arms or legs.
They move
despite themselves
up hill.
Or sometimes double back
as if they had forgotten something.
Does an unseen hand push them
even though they resist?
Can't you feel that hand on your own back
pushing you?
