Louveciennes in the Snow

I love this painting of Louveciennes in the snow by Alfred Sisley. Louveciennes is just a couple of miles from where we live, up in the hills overlooking Paris. We went there to find the place where he made this painting. The girl in my photograph of the alleyway as it is today was a passer-by who managed to position herself just about perfectly. The photograph was taken on the 4th November demonstrating the unseasonally mild weather we have had this year (up until this week). Hopefully we will get some snow here soon.

It's ridiculously exciting when you manage something like this, isn't it? I could look at this for ages spotting the differences time has brought - the height of the walls, for instance...and the spread of the trees. Hynotically fascinating.

Thanks Clare. It was quite strange being in the alleyway and finding that the emotion or feeling delivered by the painting was not present in the place. I thought I had stood in roughly the right position to take the photo, but when I looked at the painting later, I realised I was about twice as far from the person as I should have been. I had to zoom in and crop the image to frame the scene correctly.
